WWE Smackdown Injuries

During the WWE Smackdown last week, several members of the roster suffered injuries. These included Becky Lynch, Big E, Sheamus, and Ridge Holland.

Becky Lynch’s injury

Earlier this summer, Becky Lynch suffered a shoulder injury while competing in a match against Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. This injury could have ended her pro wrestling career. Fortunately, she is on the mend.

As of late, Becky Lynch’s injury has reportedly been getting a lot of attention. The WWE creative team is hoping to get Lynch back to work by the end of the year. They have also said that she is ahead of schedule in her recovery. However, the injury could still keep her from appearing on WWE TV for a while.

The creative team expects Becky Lynch to make a big impact at WrestleMania 39. In addition to being a main event player, she will also serve as a teammate for the women’s War Games match.

Big E’s injury

During the March 11 episode of SmackDown Live on Fox, former WWE World Champion Big E was involved in a nasty injury. During a match between The New Day and Sheamus and Ridge Holland, Big E accidentally landed on his head, causing him to fracture his C1 and C6 vertebrae. Although he does not require surgery to repair the damage, Big E will be in a neck brace for several weeks.

In the days following the injury, many WWE employees reached out to Big E. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. He underwent several tests. The doctors confirmed that he suffered no spinal cord damage, but did find that he fractured his C1 and C6 vertebrae.

Kevin Owens’ injury

During a live event on Sunday, Kevin Owens suffered a knee injury. He is currently rehabbing at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. It appears he may have suffered a sprained MCL.

Owens was slated to be a part of a Survivor Series WarGames match along with Johnny Gargano and Drew McIntyre. However, he had to be removed from the match after he suffered an injury. The referee had to step in to help him get to the back of the ring.

WWE has not officially commented on whether or not Kevin Owens’ injury was serious, but he is not expected to be cleared for the Survivor Series WarGames. Instead, the superstar is expected to return to the blue brand in the near future.

Sheamus’ injury

During a Monday night WWE Smackdown episode, Sheamus suffered an injury at the hands of The Bloodline. WWE officials said that Sheamus had a non-displaced fracture of his arm, which is located near his elbow. The injured superstar was taken to a local medical facility and is under observation.

The Bloodline assaulted Sheamus after he was defeated by Solo Sikoa. Jey Uso then crushed Sheamus’ arm with a steel chair. Sami Zayn then intervened and stopped the assault.

Sheamus’ injury at the hands of The Bloodline was supposed to be a major news item. WWE announcers sold the attack as a big deal. However, there is no real evidence that the attack was a major factor in the outcome of the match.

Ridge Holland’s injury

During the March 11 edition of Smackdown, Big E suffered a broken neck. In fact, he suffered two fractures: one at the C1 and another at the C6 vertebrae. It’s been a harrowing experience for the former WWE superstar.

Big E hasn’t popped up on WWE TV in the last few weeks. His injury was a big surprise to many. Despite the fact that he hasn’t been seen in the ring since June 3, he still has a lot of fans, and even wrestlers from all different companies have contacted him about the injury.

Big E was injured during a match on the March 11 edition of Smackdown. He had been wrestling with Sheamus. They were in the ring when a botched belly-to-belly suplex was performed by Ridge Holland on his head. However, it’s not the suplex itself that caused the injury, but rather the subsequent landing on top of his head.

Woods’ injury

Xavier Woods’ injury at WWE Smackdown was a serious one. The New Day member tore the muscle of his plantaris, which is a muscle under the calf. It’s estimated to take four to six weeks for the injury to heal. This means Woods will miss the Royal Rumble and the Saudi Arabia pay-per-view. He’s also likely to miss the WWE return to the Kingdom in February.

Woods was a part of The New Day and has been wrestling since day one. He was recently sent back to SmackDown to reunite with Kofi Kingston.

He recently took part in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. He was eliminated by Big Show. He is also currently out of WWE’s inactive talent list. However, he’s expected to return to the ring once he’s healed up.
